Position Vacant: Youth & Children’s Pastor
Mayfield Church of Christ is seeking a passionate and motivated self-starter to come on-board as our Youth & Children’s Pastor. Our church’s vision is To see our world transformed through life-changing relationships with Jesus Christ. You will be at the coalface of seeing this vision becoming a reality for children, youth and families.
We strongly desire someone who is passionate about seeing children and young people connect with Jesus and grow in their faith. You will also possess innovative strategies to connect and engage unchurched families.
You will have experience working with children and young people and ideally, have led teams and developed leaders in the past.
Short-term this role will involve rolling up your sleeves and “doing” ministry. But longer-term, the goal would be for you to recruit and equip team members to carry out ministry, and pastorally care for them.
Currently, Emerge, our youth group averages around 12 young people in school years 6-9. Most of the young people are from our local primary school and are not from a church background. Energy, our Sunday children’s program can have anywhere between 2 and 9 children on any given Sunday.
You will be supported to succeed by the Senior Pastor, Spiritual Leadership Team (SLT) and other Ministry Team Leaders – you will attend the Fresh Hope (Churches of Christ in NSW) Collective – the annual gathering of our tribe, and professional development opportunities will be covered by the church. Networking, being mentored and/or receiving professional supervision is not only encouraged, but is pivotal to your success in this role.
The time fraction for this role is 2 days (16 hours per/week) and flexibility to work these hours across the week may be available in collaboration with the Senior Pastor. There is also the possibility of employment in an unrelated field (factory work) to help supplement your ministry salary.
Further details regarding the role can be found in the attached Position Outcomes Statement or be obtained by contacting Senior Pastor, Tim Drough on the details below:
